Overview

This position is hybrid in Cincinnati, Ohio and sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Software Engineering leads engineers from multiple product teams. This role is responsible for responding to and mitigating project risks to ensure all projects are delivered on time. This individual will interact with stakeholders throughout the business to ensure the delivery of high quality, high value features.  

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • People management and mentorship of a distributed team of Software Engineers. Development of individualized career paths and technical skill programs that align with the team member’s ability and interests.
  • Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross functional team of architects, product owners and engineers
  • Make critical decisions that attribute to the success of the product and vocally advocating for technical excellence guiding the team to good decisions
  • Proactive in foreseeing issues and resolving them before they happen
  • Ensuring teams have clear priorities and adequate resources
  • Providing technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members
  • Maintaining high morale and motivating the delivery team to go above and beyond
  • Participating in architecture discussions and planning
  • Maintaining and fostering our culture by interviewing and hiring only the most qualified individuals

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience 
  • 6+ years professional experience developing and analyzing applications using technologies including C#, WPF, Java, and/or JavaScript
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
  • 1+ years professional experience managing and leading multiple teams of technical professionals
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, TDD, and operations
  • Capable of mentoring Junior Engineers and providing them with technical as well as professional guidance
  • Experience with short release cycles and working with a product that has been released for public consumption
  • Expert understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Principles, Data Structures, and Algorithms
  • Expert understanding of Agile processes and workflow
  • Capable of leading the interview process for prospective team members
  • Capable of having detailed discussions about product implementation 
  • Capable of providing product insight to better understand feature feasibility and required implementation effort
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • This position is fully remote with only occasional travel to the office for team meetings and events. Team members are expected to have an established workspace.
  • Ability to work remotely in the local Atlanta, Georgia area.
