Overview

This position is fully onsite in Cincinnati and sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, and support of the of the multifaceted, country wide network, on-prem and various cloud VPCs across Google, AWS, and Azure. The position requires close collaboration with internal cybersecurity and platform teams, as well as product and development stakeholders to assist in capacity planning, architectural direction and guidance. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to facilitate mentorship and cross discipline knowledge sharing. This position is in-office with a regular on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborate on critical IT projects to ensure that network and security needs are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Operate and maintain the office networking components in the Cincinnati Office.
  • Maintain the physical network infrastructure in our office and data centers.
  • Assist equivalently skilled engineers in the direction of network and firewall architecture and vendor selection.
  • Final escalation point for network and firewall issues.
  • Assist with maintaining the disaster recovery plan; assist in the company’s business continuity testing as part of the Information Technology team.
  • Member of the Incident Response Team.
  • Standardize and automate monitoring, reporting and alerting of network / firewall incidents.
  • Prepare reports of throughput, uptime and other metrics for business and capacity planning.
  • Maintain security and connectivity of cloud networks.
  • Research the latest information technology (IT) network and firewall trends.
  • Assist in the development of security standards and best practices for the organization.
  • Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff.
  • Manage connectivity and integration of company merger and acquisitions onboarding.
  • Monitor log files, dashboards and other appropriate data sources to provide periodic management reporting and input to the improvement process.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • Minimum of four years of experience in network and/or security administration.
  • A level of technical knowledge and experience normally acquired through completion of a two-year program in network engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to discuss complex technical issues with laypersons as well as highly technical individuals.
  • CCNA or equivalent competency
  • Strong capabilities with configuration and management of Cisco and Meraki Network components, such as Meraki SD-WAN and Wireless.
  • Experience with Cloud Networking knowledge in Google Cloud (GCP Partner Interconnect, Shared VPC, Internal/Regional/Global Load Balancing, Cloud Firewall, Cloud Armor).
  • Knowledge and execution of Software Defined networks.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI).
  • Significant experience with automation of code deployment across multiple cloud providers such as Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure (GCP preferred).
  • Experience with Python and/or shell scripting for network automation.
  • Experience with Terraform for managing data center hardware AND cloud networking resources.
  • Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Network Engineer certification preferred.
  • Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification preferred.
  • Configuration and support for network performance load balancing and security-focused vendors such as F5, Palo Alto Networks and other vendors in the ecosystem is critical to the success of this role.
  • Candidate should have experience supporting network environments of 500+ users which includes virtualization, wireless, and mobile technologies.
  • Experience with multiple information technology systems: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN, BGP, Active Directory, NAC, Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in vulnerability testing and ability to plan and implement ongoing testing and monitoring programs and knowledge of IT operational infrastructure including business continuity.
  • In-depth knowledge of network routing, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, internet filtering, anti-virus technology, application security, secure email gateways, and federal compliant environments.
  • Experience with some or all of the following technologies:
    • SIEM
    • IDS / IPS
    • SDWAN
    • Cisco ACI
    • Cisco ASA, NextGen FW
    • Cisco ASA, VPN, Switching & Routing
    • Dell Switches
    • Load Balancing / Web Application Firewalling
    • Data Center and Cloud Networking / Security
    • Network Tracing and Packet Capture tools

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • This position is in our office with regular visits to our data centers.
