Overview

This position sits within our Marketing division, which plans, directs, implements, and measures marketing programs for our company, people, and software products.  

 

What You Will Do

 

The Associate Economist will be an integral part of The Economics Group at ConstructConnect, supporting our market intelligence capacity and thought leadership position within the construction industry. You will become an expert on ConstructConnect’s reporting and analysis of the United States and Canadian construction markets.  

While you will report directly to the VP of Economic Content, you will work closely with our Chief Economist to improve the quality and efficiency of our reporting and forecasting processes. You will collaborate across ConstructConnect’s product and go-to-market teams to deliver industry best reporting and improve efficiency in our construction economic data processes.  

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Maintain and improve processes that support our cadence of construction economics reporting, including but not limited to: 
  • Monthly Expansion Index 
  • Semi-Annual Webcasts 
  • Monthly Project Stress Index 
  • On demand market opportunity reporting 
  • Collaborate with ConstructConnect’s Content Acquisition team, Product Development team, and business partners to manage the flow of proprietary economic data and transform economic insights into concise, actionable content for construction industry audiences. 
  • Become the project data platforms expert for The Economics Group. 
  • Track and report on building materials pricing.  
  • Maintain and update economic data collection from multiple internal and external sources.  
  • Prepare monthly reporting for ConstructConnect News, social media, and mainstream media outlets.   
  • Develop compelling data visualization campaigns.   
  • Create custom data tables for the needs of our sales team & customers. 
  • Communicate directly with the Chief Economist when operational challenges occur or opportunities for process improvements present themselves.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team 

 

  • A self-starter with the ability to manage priorities and a desire to develop your skill set. 
  • 3+ years of work experience that included qualitative and econometric analysis. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or related field, with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of economic theory and application.   
  • Possess intellectual curiosity and knowledge of the North American construction industry.  
  • Proven ability to communicate complex analysis through clear writing and presentations, making technical content accessible and actionable for diverse audiences including executives, clients, and industry stakeholders 
  • Experience in managing the production and delivery of recurring economic data sets.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, PowerBI or similar) and data visualization (Tableau or similar).  
  • Experience with managing and analyzing large sets of data in platforms like SQL and Google BigQuery is preferred, but not mandatory.  
  • Experience with content management systems and web development is preferred, but not mandatory. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 with strong Microsoft Excel experience. 

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

 

  •  The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • This position is located in Norcross GA or Cincinnati, OH, with a hybrid/remote work schedule. Team members are expected to have an established workspace.
