Overview

This position is within the Product Management division, which is accountable for the success of our software solutions by working cross-functionally with teams that develop, market, sell and support them. 

The Opportunity

As a Principal Product Designer, you will be a design leader, mentor, and advocate, inspiring a shared commitment to excellence. You'll apply systems thinking to understand complex relationships between products and features, driving better design outcomes. You will demonstrate thought leadership by partnering with Product Management on the creation of a shared vision for new product ideas, design approaches, and ways of working.  You will work with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, other designers, and user researchers. 

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead by example as a design advocate and mentor 
  • Apply systems thinking to drive better design outcomes. 
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by creating and sharing a vision for new product ideas, design approaches, and ways of working 
  • Exhibit mastery of design principles and best practices in both interaction and UI design 
  • Translate high-level requirements into actionable designs that address needs while driving measurable outcomes aligned with company OKRs. 
  • Take full ownership of the entire user journey and oversee all aspects of design execution, from concept creation to prototyping, user testing, and final production. 
  • Be a leader in cross-functional teams (engineers, product managers, other designers, user researchers) responsible for the full design and development process, from concept to execution. 
  • Measure the impact of your work and its impact on the business
  • Actively participate in user research. 
  • Drive design reviews, and be the be the design craft leader and coach to other designers to ensure consistent and cohesive experiences 
  • Integrate the work of multiple teams (engineers, product managers, other designers, and user researchers), solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions that lead to company-wide outcomes and positively influence future delivery roadmaps. 
  • Demonstrate expertise in design thinking methodologies, ability to focus a team on goals, and work on both strategic and tactical solutions 
  • Improve design processes and methodology to increase product value, team velocity and accelerate learning and value creation 
  • Contribute new directions and design patterns to the company’s design system.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team  

  • At least 8 years of enterprise product design experience. 
  • Mastery of design principles and best practices in both interaction and UI design 
  • A bias toward action, demonstrating initiative and decisiveness. 
  • Understanding of when to use the design process and when to shortcut it. 
  • Ability to clearly articulate the reasoning behind design decisions. 
  • Proficient in Figma, Miro, and other design and collaboration tools. 
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. 
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and the end user. 
  • Experience focusing a team on goals, and work on both strategic and tactical solutions 
  • Experience improving design process and methodology to increase product value, team velocity and accelerate learning and value creation 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence as determined by the team or department.
  • Team members who live outside of commuting distance will be designated as remote team members. While not required to report to an office regularly, remote team members may be expected to travel to a designated office location occasionally for team meetings, training, or other business needs with reasonable notice.
  • All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States.
