Overview

This position sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

ConstructConnect is building a modern, unified, cloud-native data platform to support our preconstruction ecosystem. We are seeking a Cloud Database Architect to lead the architectural design of scalable, secure, and efficient database systems that serve as the foundation of our platform and data mesh strategy. In this role, you’ll design reusable, domain-aligned data infrastructure patterns that enable product teams to operate autonomously while ensuring architectural consistency and platform resilience across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Architect GCP-native database solutions (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, BigQuery, Firestore) that support high-throughput SaaS applications, analytical workloads, and operational platforms.
  • Design modular and reusable Terraform-based infrastructure templates and blueprints for provisioning secure, observable, and cost-efficient databases.
  • Develop migration strategies and phased roadmaps to transition legacy and monolithic systems into modular, domain-oriented architectures.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal data storage models (OLTP, OLAP, NoSQL, distributed caches, streaming sinks) aligned to workload and latency needs.
  • Author reference architectures and decision records (ADR) for data platform components and patterns, supporting decentralized data ownership under a data mesh model.
  • Define HA/DR strategies across multi-region deployments and implement resilient failover, replication, and backup procedures.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance stakeholders to embed governance, auditability, and access controls into cloud-native data services.
  • Partner with platform engineering and DevOps teams to integrate database architecture into CI/CD workflows and GitOps pipelines.
  • Provide architectural mentorship to database engineers, data product teams, and software developers across the platform.
  • Learn and apply AI technologies: Gain familiarity with AI tools and frameworks to assist in GTM Systems tasks.
  • This job description in no way implies that the duties listed here are the only ones that team members can be required to perform.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise database architecture, including 3+ years building solutions on cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL systems (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, etc.), with emphasis on workload-specific design patterns.
  • Expertise in data modeling, schema design, query optimization, indexing, sharding, partitioning, and multi-tenant strategies.
  • Proven experience with database migration planning and execution at scale.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, OpenTofu) and CI/CD for database automation and provisioning (Liquibase, Flyway, etc)
  • Familiar with modern observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Cloud Monitoring) to support SRE practices.
  • Strong grasp of access control and identity federation within GCP (IAM, Workload Identity Federation, service accounts).
  • Comfortable with cloud security design, including encryption, network isolation, and data classification.
  • Experience building platform capabilities to support decentralized data product teams using a data mesh approach.
  • Ability to influence architectural direction while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, product, infrastructure, and security teams.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence as determined by the team or department.
  • All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States
