The Opportunity

ConstructConnect is on a mission to modernize our data infrastructure through a unified, cloud-native architecture built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We’re seeking a Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) who will be instrumental in designing, managing, and scaling the distributed data systems that power our analytics, internal tooling, and customer-facing applications. You will play a key role in supporting the platform-as-a-product vision by helping operationalize shared database services, support self-service data product delivery, and ensure our multi-tenant environment is secure, performant, and cost-efficient.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the lifecycle of cloud-native databases such as Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, BigQuery, and Firestore across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Contribute to the buildout of the Enterprise Data Platform by supporting domain-oriented teams in provisioning and managing decentralized data stores through infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Collaborate with software and data engineering teams to implement schema migration patterns (e.g., Liquibase), set up database observability, and advise on performant query design.
  • Monitor, tune, and remediate latency, availability, and capacity issues across OLTP and analytical workloads.
  • Establish high-availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies for hybrid cloud workloads, including failover automation and managed backups.
  • Ensure adherence to access governance, data residency, and compliance requirements by managing IAM roles, service accounts, and audit logging.
  • Contribute to a centralized knowledge base and create documentation that enables faster onboarding, incident response, and self-service.
  • Implement and maintain automated database provisioning modules and reusable blueprints across multiple workload slices (e.g., SaaS production, data platform, observability, experimentation).
  • Learn and apply AI technologies: Gain familiarity with AI tools and frameworks to assist in GTM Systems tasks.
  • This job description in no way implies that the duties listed here are the only ones that team members can be required to perform.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in database administration, including 2+ years managing cloud-native databases on GCP (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of data architecture principles, including OLTP vs. OLAP workloads, data mesh concepts, and domain-oriented data ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and GitOps workflows (GitLab/GitHub Actions and automation for database provisioning and deployment.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and either MySQL or Oracle in high-throughput environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools for managing schema evolution, including Liquibase, Flyway, or Alembic.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native HA/DR patterns, automated failover, and multi-region replication.
  • Awareness of cloud security best practices and compliance considerations.
  • Working knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC), service accounts, and securing data pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional platform teams, mentor engineers, and advocate for database SRE best practices.
