The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior BI Engineer to lead the development of the next generation of our embedded analytics platform. This senior-level role is central to our vision of delivering compelling analytics and predictive capabilities that empower customers to understand markets, track key relationships, and act with confidence.

As a Senior BI Engineer, you'll drive technical strategy while leveraging BigQuery, dbt, and Looker to deliver advanced dashboards, AI-powered recommendations, and seamless integration into customer workflows. You'll be responsible for architecting scalable solutions, mentoring team members, and establishing best practices that enable smarter decisions, faster action, and more strategic engagement across our organization.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead architectural design and maintain enterprise-scale dbt models and pipelines in BigQuery to support critical business functions across multiple product lines
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to deliver complex features that directly impact customer workflows and business outcomes
  • Establish and evolve comprehensive data modeling frameworks, governance standards, and architectural patterns that ensure consistency, performance, and reliability across the analytics ecosystem
  • Own optimization initiatives for BigQuery workloads, including advanced query performance tuning, storage architecture design, and strategic cost management
  • Design and implement sophisticated Looker explores and executive-level dashboards, ensuring robust data modeling and intuitive self-service experiences for diverse user personas
  • Define and champion best practices for testing, documentation, observability, and CI/CD workflows in analytics engineering, setting the standard for the broader team
  • Serve as a strategic technical advisor to senior business leaders, influencing data strategy decisions and aligning complex solutions to organizational priorities and long-term vision
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level team members through code reviews, architectural design discussions, and knowledge transfer initiatives
  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to scale self-service analytics capabilities, enabling teams across the organization to confidently access and leverage data for strategic decision-making
  • Drive innovation in analytics engineering practices, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or data engineering roles with demonstrated career advancement
  • 3+ years in senior or lead roles with responsibility for technical decision-making and team mentorship
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL including advanced performance tuning, complex transformations, and sophisticated data modeling techniques
  • Production mastery of BigQuery, dbt, and Looker in enterprise-scale environments with proven track record of managing complex implementations
  • Deep understanding of advanced data warehousing principles, ELT/ETL workflows, distributed systems, and query performance optimization at scale
  • Extensive experience applying software engineering best practices (Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code review processes) to data pipelines and BI development
  • Proven expertise in architecting and implementing scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions that balance flexibility, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring technical teams and driving cross-functional initiatives
  • Exceptional communication abilities with a proven track record of presenting complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders and translating business requirements into technical solutions 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP preferred, AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of machine learning workflows and MLOps practices
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
  • Background in SaaS or technology product companies
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (Google Cloud, dbt, Looker)


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States
