The Opportunity

ConstructConnect is seeking a Software Engineer I (SE I) to join our growing team. As an SE I, you’ll leverage modern technologies to solve complex problems and implement scalable solutions, deploying them to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) via our CI/CD pipelines. You’ll work hands-on with RESTful APIs—designing, integrating, and maintaining reliable interfaces that power seamless communication across our systems. Your passion for learning will drive continuous improvements to our applications. You’ll collaborate closely with your team to break down tasks into manageable, testable components, delivering high-quality solutions through Test-Driven Development and automated testing. Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build low-latency, highly available, and performant applications 
  • Build reusable code and libraries using test-driven development 
  • Logically identify and resolve issues using root cause analysis 
  • Adhere to our coding standards 
  • Use proper branching and code review processes 
  • Provide estimates for the level of effort and time for completion 
  • Work closely with your team to build automated tests and ensure they are valuable and our applications meet expectations 
  • Work closely with your team to break down features into small testable stories 
  • Support AI integration: Collaborate with senior engineers to implement AI-driven features and functionalities within applications, ensuring smooth integration and enhancing overall performance. 
  • Learn continuously 
  • Address security vulnerabilities 
  • Assist in the management of your team’s CI/CD pipelines 
  • Communicate effectively

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team  

Required: 

  • BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience 
  • 1-3 years experience with Python (C#/.Net Experience a plus) 
  • Experience with API and Microservice Development 
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure 
  • Familiarity with GCP services - Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Firestore, Pub/Sub, GCS 
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases OR NoSql databases 
  • Familiarity with Git or other SCM tools 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and the necessary steps within a pipeline 
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Principles, Data Structures, and Algorithms 
  • Experience (or open to) using Test-Driven Development (TDD) 
  • A strong desire to write testable code and work closely with your team to ensure our applications are of the highest quality 
  • Capable of analyzing issues in existing code and suggesting solutions 
  • Eager to learn 

Preferred: 

  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Understands API gateway concepts (auth, routing, policies) using Apigee or similar 
  • Familiar with event-driven patterns (SSE, Pub/Sub) for system communication 
  • Familiar with secure file handling with signed URLs, scanning, and supported file types (.pdf, .jpg) 
  • Familiarity with FastAPI 
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform 
  • Familiarity with Terraform 
  • Experience with feature flags

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

 

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of our Atlanta office are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States
